Our goal?
Surround children with mindful adults.

Through our mindfulness education program, children learn tools and practices that support self-regulation. Our goal that this in turn helps our children grow into healthy members of our community. Practice is one key to the long-term success of mindfulness. An equally crucial, second key is having a trauma-informed mindfulness culture around our youth.

To make this culture a reality, we extend a hand to school and staff (plus any adult that supports children). Our Trauma Informed Mindfulness for Educators/Everyone (T.I.M.E) workshops provide and the right tools. This workshop also provides the groundwork for schools beyond the Allentown School District, to lead their own mindfulness in the classroom programming, to support their communities.

Our Trauma Informed Mindfulness for Educators/Everyone (T.I.M.E.) workshops cater to anyone who works with children or adolescents in our community, from schools to healthcare settings.

The workshop provides:

  • Self-care and ways to incorporate mindfulness into our everyday lives.

  • Multiple mindfulness practices per session.

  • Exploration of challenging emotions and the use of mindful practices to support self-regulation.

  • Clear and simple ways to weave mindfulness into (and outside of!) the work day for yourself and those you support.

  • A manual for each participant which digs deeply into the presentation with accompanying research, lessons and activities, resource guides, and support.

  • I was so moved by the practices, and the last one in particular...hearing those three statements was more emotional than I would have guessed. As teachers, we are rarely told that we are cared for. We are often told that we can make a difference, but with all of the stress and data points, it's easy to lose sight of it. Today, during this practice, I finally felt it. So, thank you. I'm so grateful for your mission and your work.

  • During our time together, MCI's Mindfulness Instructor not only taught us the very basics about mindfulness, he led us through easy but beneficial mindfulness strategies . These were strategies that could become part of an everyday practice with staff and with our students. Afterward, the feedback from staff was overwhelmingly positive. It helped to calm, refocus, and provide a few minutes of self-care on an otherwise heavy day.

  • I can truly say that I have not taken the time for myself that I needed or felt this relaxed for at least 6 months, as I do as a result of Mindful Child Initiative's self-care sessions, as I do right now.

Our Promise

Our ultimate goal is to live in a compassionate and emotionally healthy community.

In order to achieve this goal, MCI will continue to play its part. We will implement mindfulness programs and workshops that encourage both child and community mental and emotional wellness.
